Information Technology Venture Capital is Dead – Part I

  1. I totally agree with the author's point of view. First, since software developing tools are so easy to use and super powerful, it is easy to developers to write code and compile it using such programs with partners' code. For example I can write a poker game without fancy user interface design but truly functional using Java within three days.

Second, hardware is really not a problem in most IT cases. Things are easy to get and much cheaper than before. One college student can easily build up a desktop with less than 300 dollars.

What I think the competitive advantage in IT field and VC should be interested in is the idea, innovation, imagination and forecast to the industry. If a company can promote something that can significantly save people's moeny, time or make life more interesting or enjoyable will get the most attention from VCs.
